Thirty-one Springfield Striders took part in the 200 strong field at the Witham 5 on Boxing Day and Mark Healey led home the large Strider contingent in agood time of 29.50.

Andrew Mason, Lindsay Broadbridge and Paul Harris were his closest challengers, and there were also good runs from Jamie Woodyard, Dave Moxon and Steve Perry.

Liz Turk led the ladies home in a new personal best time and Sheila Macauley won the Over 45 prize to complete a good day for the club.

On Sunday, at the Buntingford 10, Peter Tremain won the club 10 mile championship with a storming run, with further good performances from Andrew Mason, Rob Rodie, Alec Coleman, Terry Jopson, Richard Jellicoe, Neil Bradley and Pat Knowles.

After these two road races, attention now turns to the country with the county area championships as well as the relays all taking place in January.

The club will also be involved in three league races in what will be a busy period.
