Maldon started full of confidence after last week's win and immediately pressed their advantage by claiming most of the early possession.

The home team were forced to defend and were unable to clear the ball from their own half, eventually resulting in Maldon being awarded a short corner.

Emma Cockerill connected with Alison Vinces shot which was cleared off the line by a defender's foot and the resultant penalty flick was converted by Carol Martin.

Maldon continued to push forward with Sally Hunt and Alison Vince joining the attack.

Kay Chambers neatly nutmegged a Braintree player to pass the ball to Sandi Cliffe at the top of the "D" who in turn set up Carol Martin for her second goal.

After half-time Maldon maintained their bombardment of the Braintree goal and were rewarded with a short corner which was deflected round the post by Emma Cockerill.

As the game drew to a close, player-of-the-match Karen Wells crossed a free hit to Stella Pipe at the top of the circle which was played on to Nicola Gardiner for Maldons' fourth and final goal.

On Saturday Maldon are at home to Southend Ladies. (push off is at 1.30pm at Maldon Town ground).
