Police believe they have seized drugs worth more than £300,000 following raids in Halstead and Heybridge.
An Essex Police spokesman said 100kg of what is believed to be amphetamine sulphate - colloquially known as speed - was seized after officers executed three warrants on Tuesday.
The operation was carried out by Essex Police's Drugs and Serous Crime Unit. The seized goods have been sent away for forensic analysis.
If, as suspected, the substances prove to be drugs the estimated street value of the haul has been put at more than £300,000.
Five people have been arrested and are helping police with their inquiries.
