Colchester United slumped out of the Essex Senior Cup going down 5-3 at home to Leyton Orient.

The U's fielded six first team regulars coming back from injury and suspension.

Paul Buckle put the U's ahead after getting forward well and latching on to a low Tony Lock cross.

But they found themselves 4-1 down by the break thanks to a Tony Richards hattrick, his third coming from a penalty after Simon Betts had taken down Danny Curran in front of goal.

Carl Emberson was beaten by a 25 yarder from Qwame Anpadu moments before the break.

Neil Gregory came on for the second half in place of Lock who had had a decent first 45 minutes.

Ian Wiles pulled one back for Colchester before Curran hit Orient's fifth, before Gregory replied for the U's, but Gregory marked his return from injury after cooly despatching a Mark Warriner through ball past Suban.
