These line-dancing students are getting ready to put on a show for the folks of Castle Point.

Pupils at Glenwood special school in Rushbottom Lane, Benfleet are preparing for the Celebration of Youth art showcase to be held on February 4 and 5 at the Paddocks, Canvey.

The show will be packed full with talented young entertainers from across the borough, involving schoolchildren.

All proceeds from the event will go to Mayor Wells charity, which distributes the money to a range of child-orientated good causes.

As well as performing arts featuring strongly at the show, a large art display consisting of contributions from schools and colleges will be set up in the foyer of the Paddocks hall.

A spokesman for Castle Point council said: "This year the children have been even more involved in putting the show together, from designing the programme, posters and tickets, to writing a song for the finale."

The aim of the show is to raise the profile of youth and the arts in Castle Point and highlight the talent in the borough.

Schools participating include the Deanes school, Appleton, King John, Castle View, Cornelius Vermuyden, Furtherwick Park, Glenwood and the South East Essex Sixth form Community college.

Tickets are £4 in advance and £4.50 on the door for adults and £2.50 and £3 concessionary prices respectively for children and older folk.

People can obtain the tickets at the schools taking part in the show or through the council's Leisure Services department.
