Essex train users could soon be able to catch through services to Basingstoke, Watford and Northampton under plans unveiled by Anglia Railways.
The company intends to introduce innovative new services around London between now and 2002.
Details of the proposed services are contained in a brochure sent to politicians, local authorities and rail industry bodies.
The aim is to make cross-London journeys easier, removing the need for tube journeys and reducing the number of train connections.
Passengers from Ipswich, Colchester and Chelmsford will also be able to reach the Millennium Dome via the Jubilee Line extension at Stratford.
Other benefits will be a direct link to Wembley Stadium and easier access to Heathrow Airport.
It is hoped the Ipswich to Basingstoke service can be introduced in October with permission from the rail regulator.
A major upgrade in infrastructure on the West Coast Main Line will be needed before the services to and from Watford are finalised.
