Residents are to be consulted again over plans for a wide range of parking restrictions in Billericay.

The restrictions are designed to stamp out commuter parking in residential streets in and around the town centre and railway station.

Councillors on Billericay area committee heard that residents had already been asked for their comments on the ideas - and now council officers are to start up formal consultations with home owners on them.

They will be asked for their thoughts on imposing a parking restriction in Hillside Road and Valley Road between Gainsborough Close and Chantry Way.

And residents in Abbots Ride, the Chase, High Meadow, Hillside Close, Langemore Way, Martin Close, West Croft, Parkside, South Ridge and Prower Close will be questioned about a proposed 2pm to 3pm parking restriction in the roads.

Steps to stop parking in Burghstead Close between 8am and 6pm will be consulted on.

Councillors also agreed to refer other schemes, in the Tye Common Road, Horace Road and Station Road areas of town, to Essex County Council for consideration.

Councillor Matt Barr, committee chairman, said: "We have been out and listened to the views of the people of Billericay and as a result will be carrying on the consultation exercise to ensure we arrive at the best possible scheme for individual areas.

"We are aware of the problems being faced by some residents across the town with commuter parking and we are seeking to resolve them.

"We can only do thus with the help of the people of Billericay."
