Parents with children at Templars County Junior School in Witham were invited to a workshop about drugs last week.

Other schools in Braintree and Witham have also taken part in the project which aims to give parents information on drugs.

It also shows them how to talk to children about drugs, spot the signs of drug use and how to respond if children have tried them.

In a letter to parents, headteacher Julian Johnson said the school needed to teach children to stay safe from the dangers of drugs.

"Although our children are young, they are learning about drugs from the television and magazines and even our infant school children can know a surprising amount," he said.
