As the funeral of 14-year-old meningitis victim Mitchell Kemp was taking place in Basildon today, Health officials continued to take the situation in their stride.
Mitchell, a student a Appleton school, Benfleet, died last week within four hours of reaching hospital.
Another teenage boy is still in Southend Hospital after falling ill with the disease last Saturday and yesterday South Essex Health Authority confirmed another case - a 16-year-old South East Essex College student who is recovering at his Hadleigh home.
