The seventh Cricket World Cup is being staged in England this summer and Essex are honoured to be hosting two of its group matches.

Chelmsford will also be the venue for two warm-up games when the full Essex team will be playing against England and Bangladesh.

Memories of the last World Cup to be staged in England in 1983 will be revived when Australia lost an exciting match to the eventual winners India at a jam-packed New Writtle Street.

This summer the "Carnival of Cricket", as the competition is being titled, will allow the public of Essex the opportunity to see New Zealand play Bangladesh on Monday, May 17 and South Africa play Zimbabwe on Saturday, May 29.

For details of how to purchase tickets for either game telephone the World Cup ticket line on 0870 606 1999 (normal telephone rates apply).

Tickets for the warm-up games against Bangladesh on Saturday, May 8 and England on Sunday, May 9 are now available from the County Ground (telephone 01245 252420) and are priced at £16 adults and £8 concessions.

Should anyone wish to attend both games, a special ticket is available at £24 for adults and £12 for concessions.

Tickets can be purchased by credit card over the telephone or personally at New Writtle Street.
