Soccer: Junior league duo march into prestigious county semi-finals

Canvey Orient overcame County Park on penalties, while Shoebury-based Blackgate Gunners beat fellow Junior League outfit Woodside Colts, from Benfleet, 3-1 after extra-time thanks to Playle's brace.

However, Northwick Boys, from Canvey, were beaten on penalties by Chelmsford City Colts.

The under-14s also provided the biggest score of the day, Thorpe Athletic thrashing Southend Manor 20-0 in the B Division. Penton scored five while there were hat-tricks from Bayman, Graham, Tidd, Manley and Nicholson.
