Firefighters have rescued a 69-year-old woman from the bedroom of her burning Clacton home.
The fire at the Kingwell Avenue house is believed to have started at about 9pm last night, and both police and firefighters quickly attended.
The woman was taken to Colchester General Hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation, but was otherwise unharmed.
A 22-year-old Clacton man has been arrested and is helping police with their inquiries.
Officers are appealing for anyone in the Kingwell Avenue area of Clacton around the time of the fire who may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
