A 54-year-old woman is seriously ill in Basildon Hospital after her car was involved in a crash at Rettendon.
Margaret Matthews, 54, of Lindesfarne Court, Maldon, suffered internal injuries when her Ford Fiesta was involved in a collision with a Peugeot 306 estate at about 6pm last night on the A130 at Southend Road.
The driver of the Peugeot, Kenneth Mann, 51, of Old Costessy, Norwich, was treated for chest bruising.
