The call of the wild is beckoning Pitsea man Richard Clarke to Namibia this summer.
The 23-year-old, from Church Park Road, is heading to the African plains for a 400-kilometre cycle ride to raise money to help save the rhino, which is an endangered species.
Richard, a security guard at EMI Music in London and a music manager, signed up for the event after seeing an advert from the charity.
He explained: "I am an animal lover and have done voluntary work at the Essex Horse and Pony Protection Society for the past three years.
"When I saw the ride advertised I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to see Africa and help the rhino. I have never seen a wild rhino or elephant before and I cannot wait to go."
Richard needs to raise a minimum of £2,000 for the trip. Anyone wanting to sponsor him, should call 07931 851522.
