At half-time on Saturday, all looked well for Witham as they had dominated the First period and were holding a 1-0 lead.

Adam Morrish gave Town the lead when he lobbed the ball over Police goalkeeper, Peter Lane and into the net.

They twice again had the ball in the net but both efforts were ruled out for offside, while at the other end, Town goalkeeper, Tony Williams, only had one save to make, from a Jason Prins header.

After the break it all went wrong for Witham.

Mark Adams equalising with a penalty after a handball decision after 49 minutes and a minute later, Mark Scott fired the ball home from the edge of the area.

In the 75th minute, things went from bad to worse as Adams scored a third goal for the Blues.

Witham fought back well with two late goals.

Firstly, Wayne Vaughan took advantage of a defensive mistake, and after a neat bit of juggling with the ball, he shot it into an empty net.

Late in the game, the Police's Adam Wickens conceded an own goal for a dramatic equaliser that Witham deserved and then Town's confident appeal for a penalty for a handball was turned down.

Witham Town reserves lost 3-1 to a strong Dagenham & Redbridge side while Town under 18s fought out a 2-2 draw at Spa Road against Halstead.

The high wind spoilt the game and Witham looked to have won it when Gino Defoe scored their second goal late in the game but the visitors equalised with almost the last kick of the match.

Witham first team are at home to Northwood on Saturday in a Ryman League fixture (kick-off 3pm) while Town reserves are at home on Tuesday March 9 to Southend Manor (k.o 7.30 pm).
