Chelmsford Swifts Senior Womens National League basketball team are holding open trials to find more players to take part in their National League campaign for next season.

Swifts have just completed their third season in the National League and during that time they have gained an excellent reputation throughout the League for their outstanding home game promotion and quality of play.

Swifts play their home matches at the Riverside Ice & Leisure Centre in Chelmsford and regularly get 100 plus spectators to home games, a figure which is virtually unheard of anywhere else in the National League.

The Club has also played host to a number of prestige games, including the 1998/99 Womens All Star Game and two Junior Women's International matches.

This season saw them come close to gaining their first National honours by reaching the final of the National Womens Trophy.

The Club also has a thriving junior section with more than 50 top quality junior players, many of whom have played for the successful Swifts team that came third in the National Cadet League.

These talented young players will ensure a successful future for the Swifts although some are still too young to take on Senior National League just yet.

Several of the Swifts Senior players are unable to continue playing next season hence the search for new talent.

The Trials take place every Wednesday evening during the month of May from 8pm - 10 pm at Great Baddow High School in Chelmsford

Any prospective players should just turn up or if more details are required, telephone Paul May on 01621 869492.
