HOCKLEY 128

(MONARCHS WON)

OLD WESTCLIFFIANS 208-7

SNARESBROOK 189-7

(DRAW)

Three dropped catches ended Westcliffians' hopes of winning after they set Snaresbrook a highly-testing target.

Trevor Byrne's determined 69 in wet conditions had been followed by exciting knocks from fellow old boys J Turner (45) and P Fosh (29 not out) - but, despite M Argent's 3-47, they had to settle for a draw. Cup victory delight

OLD WESTCLIFFIANS SECONDS 56

SNARESBROOK 59-2

(SNARESBROOK WON)

Westcliffians were dismissed very cheaply in 30 overs on a wretched wicket at Aviation Way, before Snaresbrook sailed to victory. Hadleigh's easy win

WOODFORD WELLS 173-7

HADLEIGH AND THUNDERSLEY 177-2

(HADLEIGH WON)

A splendid all-round performance, led by skipper Neil Barry, took a weakened Hadleigh and Thundersley side to League Cup victory against Shepherd Neame Premier Division Woodford Wells.

Rain meant the original match was cancelled, leading to a 25-over-a-side slog. Barry's 2-14 and 2-30 from debutant Steven Board helped restrict the hosts to 173-7.

Then 42 from Peter Brown and Glen Geeson's 47 put Hadleigh further in control.

Barry and Neil Goodman remained unbeaten on 36 and 38 respectively to seal an eight-wicket win with 14 balls to spare.

Hadleigh were without four players, including opening bowler Elliott Wilson.

Club spokesman Jon Wagstaff said: "It was a convincing win against strong opponents - and they were absolutely gutted afterwards." Hadleigh's easy win part two

HADLEIGH AND THUNDERSLEY 3rd XI 85-3

BENFLEET 84 all out

(HADLEIGH WON)

Miserly bowling from Harry Singh (3-5 in 4.3 overs) helped Hadleigh thirds to a comfortable win in a Woodside Park friendly with their closest neighbours.

Richard Harding took 3-32 in six overs as Benfleet were skittled out for 84.

Young duo Ashley Jones (22) and Lee Randall (26) steered Hadleigh home by seven wickets, at 85-3.
