This is the face of the alleged serial rapist who is said to have attacked women in Southend, London and Brighton.

The photograph is now allowed to be published after the Old Bailey judge lifted a ban on identifying DJ Richard Baker.

Baker, 34, allegedly attacked 12 women, and is accused of threatening to kill them in terrifying and revolting ordeals. He admits five sex offences but denies a further eight charges, including four rapes.

Three of the assaults relate to incidents in Beedell Avenue, Westcliff, the Queensway underpass in Southend and an alleged rape in Eaton Road, Leigh.

The defence in the Old Bailey trial was due to begin its case yesterday.

Baker, originally from Bodmin, Cornwall, was described as a "Jekyll and Hyde" character by one of his victims, the court heard.

The 22-year-old said Baker acted like a teacher one minute and threatened to "smash her head in" the next.

The trial continues.
