Picture: STEPHEN LLOYD Judge rises to new standards

It's been a case of "have sports kit, will travel" for 13-year-old King John School, Thundersley, pupil Kit Judge.

In the world of rugby, he returned mid-tour from the Isle of Wight with Rochford Hundred, where he plays for the under-14 team to play a game in the oval-ball sport with Essex in Diss, Norfolk.

From there it was straight on to Gloucester Park, Basildon, where, competing for Basildon Athletic Club, he won the under-15 pole vault title at the Essex County Championships.

The next success came in the County Championships javelin event, where he picked up a bronze medal for third place in the under-15 competition.

Kit works very hard, missing a lot of relaxation time to train and compete at clubs and school level.

He had to combine his latest sporting exploits by sitting "Sats" exams at school.

At King John, he represents the school team-wise at rugby and cricket.

On the athletics front Kit won gold at the Southern Counties indoor championships at Bedford earlier this year.

His current personal best in the pole vault is 2.90 metres.
