Dropped first-teamer Richard Swile responded in the best possible fashion - hitting a fine 86 to set up Billericay seconds' victory.

Billericay had been put in on a soggy pitch, but, after losing an early wicket, opener Swile helped them defy the difficult conditions at the John Burrows ground.

Swile, who notched ten fours and three sixes, added 70 for the second wicket with skipper Dave Pritchard (21), then put on 62 with Scott Noble (32)

The considerable turn gained by Hadleigh spinners Harding (3-73) and Steve Jones (4-53) troubled the remaining Billericay batsmen.

However, Jason Curnick (30 not out) came in at 168-8 with less than four overs left and earned Billericay full batting bonus points, taking them beyond 200 with three fours and two huge sixes.

Hadleigh's response reached 62-1, but Jon Butler (3-24) and Curnick (a very unlucky 1-37) came on to bowl and engineer a slump.

Steve Board steadied Hadleigh, but Gary Marshall (3-30), who removed Board for 53, and Steve Ash (2-55) killed them off. Powerful stuff from Billericay

BILLERICAY THIRDS 213-6

(BILLERICAY WON)

Powerful batting enabled Billericay to overcome a strong Gidea Park side.

Mark Townsend took 2-24, but Wright (70), Goldstone (42), Satsangi (42) and Windebank (30) piled up the runs before Gidea Park's declaration in the 49th over.

Colin Thornton (37) and young Mike Smith (49) put on 87 for Billericay's first wicket, Mike Etheridge (37) steadied things, then skipper Mark Mayhook (21) and Alan Davies (44 not out) blitzed the final 100 runs in less than 13 overs. Pickup's pick-me-up

GIDEA PARK & ROMFORD FOURTHS 172 all out

BILLERICAY FOURTHS 174-5

(BILLERICAY WON)

Jon Pickup inspired Billericay's victory with his best ever bowling figures of 7-87 in his 26-over stint.

Alan Campbell (38) and Dave Pumfrey (71) put Billericay's reply on course, before Graham Greenless (13 not out) and Bary Jowett (21 not out) saw them home with two overs to spare. Respectability not enough

BILLERICAY FIFTHS 148-9 declared

BENFLEET FOURTHS 150-5

(BENFLEET WON)

Jon Gould (63) and Steve Watson (21) helped Billericay to respectability, but Benfleet bowler Corbyn (5-39) left his side with a target they reached comfortably.
