Essex-based Concord Auto-grass Club held their second meeting of the season at their Boreham track on Sunday.

After three sets of qualifying heats, the Class 1 Minis got the finals underway. Steven Lodge, from Dunmow, continued his good form with another win, showing a clean pair of knobbly tyres to Craig Shelley from Boreham and Chelmsford's Alan Spires.

Another fantastic battle in Class 2 saw Antony Jackson and Steven Hathaway, both from Bicknacre, take it all the way to the wire, with Antony just pipping Steven with Mark Harland from Cambridge chasing them in.

A repeat performance from the last meeting in Class 3 saw Thetford's Mike Thurley lead virtually to the end but lost out to a visiting Lincoln with Allan Crowther from Chigwell, third.

Dave Ferguson, from Woodford Green, led all the way in Class 4, with Braintree's Roger Chapman and Steve Earl from Westgate chasing him in.

In Class 5 Justin Drury from Chrishall led from start to finish in his Metro, but Dunmow's Andy Lodge was never far behind; eventually taking second from Hatfield Heath driver Warren French.

Another two from Hatfield Heath, Bow Sapsford, took the top spot in Class 6, with team mate Lynton Turner taking second from Whitsable's Chris Earl.

Stan Sewell, from Dunmow, had a dominant day in Class 7, with the Honda motorbike powered Fiesta winning every race with Newmarket's Joe Willis.

Another start to finish victory was taken by Dunmow's Darren Lodge in Class 8, with Chelmsford's Barry Hathaway and Wayne Kerrison chasing hard.

The Class 9 victory went to John Bashford from Ongar, taking his second win of the season from Darrell Cook from Ipswich.

Bocking's Steve Clark added to his trophies with another win in Class 10, with Thaxted's Paul Hassell taking second.

Lewis Shelley, youngest son of the Boreham racing family, made it two final wins from two meetings in the Juniors. Lowestoft's Jo Doddington achieved her best ever result taking second from Braintree's Cheryl Hearn, Cheryl herself in her second ever meeting.

Finally the Open race fielded 20 cars, with Craig Shelley showing just how competitive Class 1 has become this year with a win in his mini, with Antony Jackson second in the Class 2 Escort and Dave Ferguson third.

The next meeting is the Essex Autograss Open, at two day meeting on May 30/31.
