They are the enforcers.

Dave Revell and Tony Corbey are the two men drivers in Maldon will either love or hate, depending on whether they find themselves facing an excess charge ticket or not.

They are Maldon District Council's newest car park enforcement officers, employed to patrol the town centre car parks and ensure drivers pay for the privilege of parking in the town.

Their appointment comes as the council prepares to open its new town centre car park Friaryfields in September, providing another 60 spaces. It is also replacing the pay and display machines in the town centre.

The new ones will include a key pad where drivers will enter their registration number which will be printed on the ticket allowing it to be identified with the correct vehicle. The idea is to put an end to the passing of tickets between drivers.

The two men will also be responsible for patrolling residents' parking areas to make sure those living in the roads who pay for their permit can park their cars.
