Two Campion School rugby players gained selection for England Under 18's this season, Tom Coughlan having played on the wing and Terry Ellis played in the hooker position.

Terry was captain of both the Campion and Eastern Counties teams, and both boys hope to combine university studies with a high standard rugby next year.

Another pupil, number 8 Chris McEwan, gained a Scotland Under 19 trial and represented London at Under 18 level this season.

Former pupils of the Campion School, which is in Wingletye Lane, Hornchurch, have also done well this season and gained representative honours.

Michael Cheyne (tight head), Ian Breheny (full back) and John Rudd (wing) all played for England Under 21 A against South Africa, while John Rudd also played on the wing for England Under 19's. Anthony Diprose is again Captain of the England A side.

The school had a good run in the Daily Mail Cup as, for the sixth successive year, it reached the quarter-finals.

On three of those previous occasions, Campion School has gone one stage closer to playing at Twickenham by reaching the semi-finals, and the school hopes for similar success next year.

Next summer Campion embark on their three yearly tour, which will take them to Australia and New Zealand to face difficult opposition.
