Shoppers played a real-life version of the Price Is Right when the tills stopped working at a Stanway supermarket.

Customers were invited to "come on down" and assess the cash total of their trollies during the 1- hour power cut at the Co-op Fiveways store on Saturday afternoon.

A spokesman said: "We told customers they could leave shopping where it was and come back later.

"We also invited them to bring their trollies to the tills to make an assessment on the value of their contents."

Most of the lucky shoppers went for the second option and had to strike a price agreement.

"It is remarkable how honest people are in this type of situation," said the spokesman.
