South Essex tennis hopes were dashed yesterday when local clubs were vanquished in the Essex LTA cup finals.
In the Men's Senior Cup Westcliff Hard Courts lost out 7-6 on a tie break after holding Clearview to two events all.
The Ladies' Senior Cup saw Westcliff Hard Courts again lose out on a tie break after they stood at 2-2 against Connaught.
A four-hour marathon was needed to sort out Gidea Park and Thorpe Bay in the Men's Intermediate Cup.
It stood at one set apiece before a thrilling third event battle saw Gidea Park win 21 games to 19.
Westcliff Hard Courts' ladies lost 2.5 events to 1.5 sets against Connaught in the Ladies' Intermediate Cup.
The Men's Junior Cup first division was won by Redbridge, who beat Cranston Park 2.5 events to 1.5.
Essex Tennis beat Clearview 4-0 to take the second division title. Clearview beat Great Baddow 4-0 in the Ladies' Junior Cup.
