Relieved bride-to-be Tanya Trood was today celebrating the news that her honeymoon was back on after an eleventh-hour plea secured her a passport.

Yesterday This Is Essex revealed that Tanya, 28, was facing a wedding with no honeymoon after the Passport Agency failed to send her a new passport - despite having two months to assess her application.

But the agency had not reckoned on north Essex MP Bernard Jenkin and his wife and secretary Anne who spent almost three days dialling a special phoneline dedicated to MPs whose constituents were experiencing problems.

Yesterday - only three days before Tanya and fiance Steve were due to fly away - Mrs Jenkin managed to get through and secure the promise that a courier would bike her passport to her today.

Tanya, of Mumford Road, West Bergholt, said today she was delighted.

She added: "I am absolutely relieved its come at the 11th hour. It's been a nightmare, but they pulled out all the stops, its fantastic. I 'd like to say a massive thank you, its absolutely superb what they did setting it up."

The couple are due to marry tomorrow in Little Horkesley and Steve had organised a surprise honeymoon for Sunday.

What made the situation even more desperate was that former Stanway School pupil Tanya's passport was valid and in date - she only sent it away to have it altered to her married name.

The Passport Agency even cashed her cheque on June 17 - but still no passport arrived.

Mr Jenkin said today he was pleased to have been able to help. He added: "When we telephoned Tanya she was so happy she cried. We're so glad that we were able to produce a happy ending."
