New Billericay Town boss Gary Calder has continued his busy summer shopping spree as the new Ryman League Premier Division campaign rapidly approaches.

As with his first three buys, the latest list of new Calder captures is packed with names closely associated with former club Enfield.

However, as they finally finished fifth and challenged for honours for much of the term - whereas Billericay finished halfway - that won't worry Town fans.

In fact, two of the "newcomers" are players who have enjoyed previous spells at New Lodge. Striker Gary Caldon was a youth with the club before embarking on a highly-successful career with Heybridge Swifts.

Before moving to Enfield he was with ex Swifts boss Gary Heale at St Albans. Defender Kirk Game had a short spell at Billericay some seasons ago, but most recently played at Dagenham and Redbridge.

Another front runner from Enfield, although probably better known from his Dagenham days, is Courtney Naylor.

Wide player Sammy Cooper, who moved to Enfield from Grays, where he was much admired by local fans, is also making the journey to Blunts Wall Road along with another well-known name from Grays Rec days - top defender Mark Risley.

Young goalkeeper Jason White, who played against Town near the end of last term for a winning Enfield outfit, will be at New Lodge to fight out the number one goalkeeping spot with experienced Dave Root, who has signed on for another year.

Billericay return to training next week and have their first friendly in a fortnight when John Still brings his Nationwide League Division Three Barnet side - the former outfit of Town's midfield star Keiren Adams - to New Lodge.

Calder's first three signings, all from Enfield, were Steve Terry, Lee Williams and Richard Dunwell.

A number of players have departed New Lodge during the summer with the defensive trio of Gary Waters, Chris Moore and Craig Davidson now at Canvey, who will be battling for Premier honours with the New Lodge side.

Among those definitely staying are contract players David Adekola, Steve Portway, Adams, Dean Parratt and Steve Blaney.
