MALDON....................................................288-4

GREAT BENTLEY....................................266-9

(Maldon won by 22 runs)

On Sunday, Maldon entertained Great Bentley in an Osbourne Garages League Division One League fixture, and the weather was hot and the pitch flat.

Bentley won the toss and surprisingly asked Maldon to bat first much to the relief of the Maldon skipper.

Maldon started quickly and reached 50 off just seven overs helped by a quick 38 from Mark Gozzett.

After both openers had been dismissed, Ian Elliott (144 not out) and Peter Warrant (81) put on a 210 run partnership, just short of the clubs third wicket record partnership (212).

Maldon finished on 288 for four from their allotted 45 overs.

After tea Maldon set attacking field placements which enabled Bentley to get off to a good start.

Maldon always looked on top until Evans reached the crease and hit a hard hitting 82 runs in few balls.

But after he was dismissed the challenge ended and Bentley closed on 266 for nine after a full 45 overs.
