Frances Wilkinson, a teacher at Great Totham School, Maldon has retired after 27 years of teaching at the school on Friday.
Mrs Wilkinson initially taught part-time, when she had a young family, then later as full-time, teaching pupils in key stages.
Generations of children at the school have also benefited from Mrs Wilkinson's teaching, particular her knowledge of history, musical talent and art and craft skills.
