A Braintree concert venue made a loss on a pop concert featuring ex-Coronation Street heart-throb Adam Rickett.

Braintree Towerlands Arena played host to the multi-act line-up of the TV Hits/Twix Roadshow on Wednesday - but was hit by a disappointing turnout.

Manager of the venue, John Sillett, added the 2,500 turnout at the TVHits/Twix Roadshow meant, in money terms, the concert "did not break even".

Now he has said they will only be putting on performances by single bands.

Acts performing at the show were ex-Coronation Street star Adam Rickett, Kerri-Ann and Braintree band Next of Kin.

The celebrity line-up for the Towerlands arena concert was subject to a number of changes before the day.

Former EastEnders star Martine McCutcheon was due to appear but dropped out due to scheduling difficulties and rocking girl band Hepburn were a shock last-minute cancellation.

Towerlands manager, John Sillett, said: "We're very happy with the way the event was run but we were disappointed with the amount of people there."

"Towerlands is now looking to put single bands on in the future after the disappointing turnout at the Roadshow and we will not put on a show like this again."
