Pitsea rail station is set for a £400,000 revamp under ambitious proposals revealed today.
Railtrack and LTS Rail are teaming up to spearhead the station refurbishment, due to be completed by spring next year.
The scheme's blueprint - which has been lodged with Basildon Council - includes the demolition of the current building to make way for a stylish new development.
A small convenience store and cash machines also form part of the new package, to be considered by councillors over the next month.
The refurbished Pitsea station, in Station Lane, will be one of the first to be decked out in LTS Rail's new corporate name and image - c2c.
LTS Rail spokesman Alan Wheeler said the plans were designed to improve facilities for commuters who use the station day in, day out.
He added: "The new station will be nice and modern with lots of glass, open spaces and lots of light."
