Children at a Witham school have been given an extended summer holiday after building work delayed the start of the new term.
Youngsters at Howbridge Juniors should have gone back today with thousands of other children across the county.
But the ongoing work has meant some have been given an extra two days holiday.
A county council education spokesman said years four and five were expected to return on Friday. The rest of the school should be back in classes tomorrow.
The spokesman said: "There are four schools across the county where building work has led to a delay in the start of the new term. To our knowledge this is the only one in the area."
