Investigations were today under way into a possible carbon monoxide leak at a caravan park.

Four people from Orchards Holiday Village, Point Clear, were taken to Colchester General Hospital feeling unwell on Monday night.

Ambulance crews and firefighters from Clacton and Weeley were called to the scene.

A spokesman for Clacton Fire and Rescue said today: "There were about ten children feeling quite ill. Some of them were taken to hospital."

Today a spokesman for Bourne Leisure, the holiday camp's parent group, confirmed an investigation was being held.

He said: "We have tested the two caravans concerned and at the moment believe carbon monoxide was not involved."

The Health and Safety Executive and Tendring Council environmental health department have both been informed and are conducting investigations.
