Residents of Canvey have been finding out more about the work of the Salvation Army.

The Canvey Corps held an awareness day in the Knightswick Shopping Centre in Furtherwick Road to showcase its work.

It invited the Mayor of Castle Point, Tony Hurd, along to the exhibition as well as Lieutenant David Phillips, the divisional commander for the Salvation Army's London North East Division.

People visiting the display saw the Salvation Army's emergency vehicle and videos on the Army's work.

There was also a colouring competition for children and a songs of praise service in the Salvation Army church in Mitchells Avenue in the evening.
