Rochford went into their league campaign at home to Havering Seconds and after early chances at both ends, it was Havering who opened the scoring.

The lead was short-lived, however, as Rose Grover soon equalised. As the game progressed, Havering found the net once more only to be denied when Clare King scored from the edge of the area.

As a draw was looking inevitable, Clare again popped up to fire in her second and Rochford's winning goal.

Rochford stopped in their tracks

Ipswich & East Suffolk IV 2

Rochford Casuals I 1

Essex Hockey League Mens Division 4 South East

Rochford entered this league match with a positive attitude only to be stopped in their tracks when Ipswich opened the scoring.

Not to be put down, they went searching for the equaliser before half time but to be denied by good goalkeeping.

The second half was at frantic as the first with Rochford going close only for Ipswich to break away and score their second.

As time was running out Gary Lowe broke into the penalty area only to be tripped up by the keeper and Paul Cooper calmly put away the penalty.

Rochford battled in vain but were unlucky to go down 2-1.
