A 71-year-old man was punched in the face in an alleged road-rage attack in Colchester.
Tempers flared when a younger man was pushing a broken down white Renault car. Police said a near-miss occurred with another car, driven by the pensioner, and an argument started.
The elderly man was allegedly attacked and punched in the face. He was taken to Colchester General Hospital by ambulance where he was treated for minor facial injuries.
Police investigating the incident arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of assault. He was released on bail pending further inquiries.
Police appealed for witnesses to the incident, which happened at Barnhall Avenue, leading to the Barnhall estate, at 7.20pm yesterday.
In particular they want to trace a male driver, wearing a leather jacket, who stopped at the scene.
