Danbury's professional lady snooker player June Mead recently returned from competing in the ladies Regal Welsh tournament with great success by reaching the last 16 of the event.

June (pictured), knocked out Sue Selby, a seeded player ranked 18 in the world, to gain vital ranking points.

June had a difficult match against Selby, before eventually winning 3-2.

Speaking after her success, June said: ''The ranking points this season are very important for me. I was ranked 52 and have now moved up to no. 41 in the world''.

June has been practising hard this year at Witham Snooker Bowl where she gets good advice from professional Ali Carter.

Ali said: ''June's potting has really improved over the last year and I wish her luck as she bids to move up the rankings''.

June has two Tournaments left this season, the Connie Gough and The World Championships.

She is currently looking for sponsors to help her finance the next snooker season that starts in August.

If any company can help June by way of sponsorship, they are invited to telephone Snooker Management on 01245 227520
