A garden for the community is being repeatedly vandalised.

Anne Shaw, of Gwynne Road, Dovercourt, has watched in disbelief as a garden she created for her neighbours has been attacked by "a selfish few".

She said: "I don't know if it's just kids on their way to school. It probably is, but I wish they would stop it. I planted a little holly tree for one of my neighbours for luck and now it has gone."

Mrs Shaw started work on the area of land between Gwynne Road and Park Road last summer

"It was just a patch of waste ground really and I just wanted to do my best to improve it."

But in the past few months she has seen some flowers ripped out of the ground and others go missing.

"I would just ask who ever is doing it to stop," she said. Now Mrs Shaw has put up a sign on her fence. It reads: "This garden is here for the community to enjoy, not for the selfish few to destroy."
