A professional Essex golfer is giving fans and friends a chance to share in his winnings.

Jason Levermore, who turned professional last October, is turning himself into a human share offer in an attempt to raise funds to help him compete on the circuit.

There are 60 shares at £50 each up for grabs in the golfer who won his first professional competition last week.

Jason's father Stuart, a professional at Clacton Golf Club, said: "We want to sell these shares so we can build up funds for Jason to compete on the professional circuit.

"It was easier on the amateur circuit. Now he has to find entry fees of £150 and if it isn't a local tournament then the price of up to three days' accommodation too."

Anyone who buys a share will enter into a two-year contract. Over those two years Jason will keep 50 per cent of his winnings and 50 per cent will be held for shareholders.

At the end of the two years the fund will be divided between all those with shares. Stuart said: "We are hopefully going to start selling the shares this weekend.

"The money raised will cover entry fees, practice sessions, travel and equipment.

"This will mean Jason can miss some of the smaller tournaments in which he would have to raise these funds and be able to concentrate on the bigger competitions.

The 20-year-old from Clacton has played golf seriously for eight years. He captained Essex boys and enjoyed a very successful amateur career.
