Colne Valley Golf Club's Paul Curry suffered mixed emotions following his debut on the American PGA circuit.

While Tiger Woods, David Love III and eventual winner Phil Mickelson were battling for the first prize of $540,000 at the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Club, California, Curry had to settle for $6,600 after a final round 76.

The first major milestone for Curry in his American adventure was to make the cut in the tournament which he did with ease after carding two excellent first round scores of 69 and 68, to leave him just off the leader board at -7.

It was an excellent achievement when you consider the cut mark of -2 was a new record high for the USPGA.

Unfortunately, Curry was not able to continue in the same rich form, shooting a 75 on Saturday followed by Sunday's 76.

But the 38-year-old can now look forward to his next tournament with confidence.
