Brentwood Town Ladies Football Club has been awarded a £1,700 grant by the Millennium Awards for All Fund, one of the National Lottery schemes, in order to promote girls football in the town.

The main purpose of the grant is to enable the club to set up more mini-soccer teams for primary school aged girls and will enable the club to purchase a wide range of equipment, including portable goals, training balls and new kits.

One of the first projects will be a half-term skills training course for girls at the Brentwood Centre, run in conjunction with Brentwood Borough Council.

This will be followed on March 4 by a mini-soccer festival at the Brentwood Centre, when Brentwood Town Ladies will be hosting the first of a series of county-wide mini-soccer festivals for under 10 girls.

"This grant will be an enormous benefit to us in developing the club," said Head Coach David Worsfold. "It will help us in our work by ensuring that we have something to offer to girls of all ages''.

If anyone would like information about joining Brentwood Town Ladies FC, they should contact David Worsfold on 01277 221445.
