Stanway Rovers' young striker Richard Clarke is currently on a week's trial with Nationwide Division Three side Scunthorpe.
Clarke, 19, from Raydon, near Capel St Mary, joined Jewson League division one outfit Rovers at the beginning of the season from Luton Town and is the team's top scorer with 14 goals so far this season.
He was spotted by a Scunthorpe scout while playing for his University side and the talented utility player will be training and playing with the Irons this week.
Stanway boss Phil Bloss said: "We play him up front because he's quick, but he can also play at full-back and as a defensive midfielder.
"If he does make it I hope they let him continue with his University studies.
"He was only released from Luton as part of their cost-cutting at the end of last season. I know he would love to get back into league football but he should also think of his long-term future.
"Nevertheless it's a great chance for the lad."
Stanway have been aware of other league clubs showing an interest in Clarke with scouts attending their recent games.
