Pupils at William de Ferrers School in South Woodham Ferrers received their Duke of Edinburgh bronze awards in school assembly on Wednesday.
All the year 11 pupils received awards having completed tasks including physical, service and expedition challenges. Many have already started working towards their silver awards.
School spokesman Andrew Merchant said he was 'very proud of the work they've done', and also praised the efforts of the school's teachers in making the awards a success.
