A Braintree man is hoping to raise £2,500 for a children's charity, by taking part in the Ultimate Charity Challenge in Borneo.

Adrian Newbery of Bartram Avenue, will be trekking up the 13,000 feet Mount Kinabalu, cycling 180km across the Kinabalu National Park, white water rafting the Padas river, and scuba diving in the Pacific Ocean in his quest to raise the money.

He will be raising the money for Children Today, a charitable trust that raises funds to purchase vital equipment for children and young people with disabilities.

Before Adrian leaves for his trek, which starts on March 26, he is holding a barn dance at Cressing Temple to begin the fund raising process.

The dance is being held on Saturday and the music will be supplied by the band KEGS.

Adrian said: "By joining us for a fun packed evening you will help support the work of Children Today, which raises funds for children and young people with disabilities, to purchase vital equipment such as electric wheelchairs, walking aids, educational toys, communication aids and lifting equipment. It's going to be a great evening."
