A bankrupt Pitsea woman has been banned from being a director for seven years for fiddling tax and account books at her nursery.
Government inspectors also found that Alisa Hatton, of Station Lane, had caused or allowed unexplained cash withdrawals. She was director of the Animal House, based at Royal Mint Square, Cartwright Street, London, from May 1996.
The business went bankrupt in September 1997, owing £100,636.
Eastbourne County Court found Ms Hatton, also known as Alisa Aitken, was unfit to run a company because she:
Caused or allowed withdrawals to be made from Animal House's bank accounts which were not properly explained in the books or records
Failed to maintain, preserve or deliver up adequate accounting records for Animal House
Caused or allowed Animal House to retain monies which were due to the Government, and used these to fund its ongoing trading
Failed to ensure the audited company accounts for the period up to August 31, 1996 were filed as required by the Companies Act, 1985.
