Billericay Library has taken a leap into the electronic age, with new internet access.
The popular library, in the High Street, is now on line to cruise cyberspace with a high-speed computer terminal. Jackie Gowlett, manager of the library, said staff had been itching to have the facility for quite a while.
She said: "It is essential nowadays. We have had inquires for ages and are delighted to get it after a long wait.
"The staff have all been having a go already and it should be great. At the moment we only have one terminal but there is always the hope that we will get more."
The library envisages a booking system for internet use between 10am and 4pm, allowing the largest number of customers to use the service.
