Basildon Town continued their march up the Essex Intermediate League Senior Division Two table when goals from Chivers, Lawrence and Wakeling gave them a 3-2 win at Herongate Athletic. The new towners are now up to fifth place.
Up in the First Division, Rayleigh Town got home 2-1 in their home local derby with Runwell Hospital thanks to Sugrue and an own goal. Wallace replied.
In Senior Division Three, Stambridge fought out a goalless draw with unbeaten leaders Wanstead Town, while Chalvedon, whose goal came from Springfield, lost 2-1 at home to Springfield.
Benfleet saw their title hopes take a knock in Reserve Division One when they lost 3-2 at Frenford Senior. Rosenthal and Ratcliff got the Benfleet goals.
Shell Club moved well clear of the bottom with a 3-2 success at Sandon Royals thanks to a Barrett hat-trick.
A trip to the Southend seaside to meet Ekco First Data was in no way bracing for White Notley in Reserve Division Two. Spackman (4), D Merry and Cutts were on target for Ekco in a 6-2 win.
In Reserve Division Three, Basildon Town completed a good day for the club, and moved to third place, with a 2-1 home success over Galleywood. A brace from Cubitt led the way.
Laindon Athletic's promotion charge again came to a halt as they lost 2-1 at home to Manford Way.
