Stanway Rovers' Jewson League division one promotion hopes were dealt a blow as they went down 2-0 at Whitton United.

Two late goals sealed a win for the home side after Rovers had dominated much of last night's game.

But they just could not find that killer touch in front of goal and two breakaway goals sealed their fate.

Stanway were missing young striker Richard Clarke, currently on trial at Scunthorpe - and that, said manager Phil Bloss, was a big factor.

"I'm disappointed with the result but not the way we played."

He added: "It makes the other games much more important - everything's very much back in the melting pot again."
