A sacked bank worker carried out a campaign of harassment against his former employer.

Allan Mayhew made 35 telephone calls over two days to Lloyds Securities in Chelmsford, the town's magistrates heard.

He also telephoned a bank employee even though a restraining order had been made against him to prevent him contacting the worker.

Mayhew, 29, of Hill Road, Chelmsford, admitted two charges of harassment, one in breach of a restraining order and persistently using a telephone to make annoying calls.

Magistrates remanded him in custody and committed him for sentence to the crown court.

Keith Rylands, prosecuting, told the court on Thursday Mayhew was dismissed from Lloyds Securities in August 1998 which sparked his behaviour.

Mr Rylands told the court in June last year Mayhew was convicted of harassment and a restraining order placed on him not to contact a bank employee. He was also placed on probation for six months.

Thirty five calls were made to the securities building between February 8 and 10 but staff recognised the voice of Mayhew from some of them.

Mr Rylands said Mayhew was arrested and denied making the calls.

Magistrates heard Mayhew had appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court in December last year on several harassment charges and was put on probation.
