Essex Budo-Kan held a successful Martial Arts Convention at Danbury Sports Centre last weekend.

The course was in aid of the 20th anniversary of the founding of the original Essex Budo-Kan.

Instructors and Students on the course came from all over the United Kingdom, from Glasgow to Bristol, from East Coast to West Coast and Essex Budo-Kan extends its grateful thanks to those long distance travellers.

Instructors for the weekend were: Pat Drake 6th Dan, teaching Jujitsu, Chris Moslin 6th Dan, teaching Ueshiba Aikido/Aiki-jujitsu, Shaun Oddy 5th Dan, teaching Tomikikai Aikido (assisted by Greg Barton 3rd Dan).

Jack Thompson 5th Dan, taught Judo, Mike Bernie 4th Dan, who taught a different style of Jujitsu, Adam Richardson 4th Dan, teaching Ninjutsu.

Aileen Jeffrey 3rd Dan, teaching Ueshiba Aikido in a manner that surprise some of the people. Steve Mitchell 3rd Dan, taught elements of both Jujitsu and Aiki-jutsu.

All the instructors, except Jack Timpson and Shaun Oddy, taught their particular Disciplines throughout Saturday.

Sunday morning saw Jack Timpson and Shaun Oddy (with Greg Barton) joining all of the other instructors.

As on Saturday, there were four training areas within the hall and all were fully utilised. After lunch, all the instructors and students watched an excellent display of Ninjutsu by Adam Richardson and his students.

This was followed by two hours of 'round robin' whereby each instructor performed a technique in turn and all of the students practised each technique in turn.

The course finished and the Chief Instructor and Founder of Essex Budo-Kan, Chris Moslin, was presented with gifts from Adam Richardson 4th Dan of the British Fuma Ryu Ninjutsu Society.

These gifts were not expected but will be treasured for all time and 4pm saw the end of a successful course that was enjoyed by all present, with most of the course attendees retiring to the bar for a little refreshment.

Essex Budo-Kan thanked all of the Instructors for passing on their wealth of knowledge and all of the students, who included other 3rd, 2nd and 1st Dans.

Essex Budo-Kan meets at the Dovedale Sports Centre, in Vicarage Road, Chelmsford on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
